InSEA Publications: Peer review process
NOTE: InSEA Publications employs a double-blind review process
Proposals to publish with us
- Proposal is submitted to InSEA Publications (online).
- Proposal is reviewed by at least two members of our Academic Review Panel.
- Proposal is either accepted for peer-review or declined. If accepted, steps 1- 5 below follow.

Manuscripts (ie articles, chapters or visual essays)
- InSEA Publications appoints at least two anonymous expert referees.
- Referees use our peer review form to provide a critique based on the scholarly merit of the submission.
- InSEA Publications sends the reviews to the authors or editors.
- Authors or editors provide a description of any revisions in response to the reviewers’ suggestions.
- If our Academic Review Panel deems the revisions adequate, the publication process will begin.

Review timescale
The average time for review varies from one to four months.
NOTES: As our strapline suggests, InSEA Publications is committed to ‘different thinking’ in art education, research and praxis. We seek proposals that are original and advance knowledge and practice in learning through art. For example, we will consider edited books, visual essays and monographs from individuals or groups. Applicants should remember that all our publications are subject to peer review.
The opportunity to publish is a membership benefit and potential editors, authors, practitioners and contributing authors must be or agree to become, individual, professional members of InSEA. Note: It is not necessary to be a member to propose a publication (endorsement proposals will ONLY be accepted from members).
InSEA Publications aims to make all forms of research and systematic enquiry as widely available as possible, for example through the InSEA web pages as pdfs.
InSEA Publications: Academic Review Panel (2022-23)
Members of our academic review panel are called on to review proposals to publish with InSEA Publications and individual manuscripts. If necessary, we also invite additional expert opinions.
