Chair of InSEA Europe Regional Council: TÕNU TALVE

It is about my/our project, ATAE. Art Teachers' Art Exhibition for InSEA 70 anniversary. I have discussed the idea at 2023 InSEA meeting in Turkey with Andrew Ash, Rolf Laven and Petra Sobanova. They said - good idea! Christiana Africaner is a person, with whom I started this concept again, some years ago. But, ATAE was in my mind already in 2012, when there was a teachers´strike in Estonia. Teachers´artworks were exposed then in Estonian Parliament. In Jan. 2024, we had teachers´strike again. Strikes are the reaction to the arrogance and empty promises of Estonian government parties of the last, almost 15+ years. They do not care of the teachers. Salaries are extremely low, as compared to the amount of work. Inflation is hugh and strategic goods prices have risen sky-high during these years. Please have a look at my homepage, dear colleagues! Secretary of InSEA Europe Regional Council: ANNIKA HELLMAN

I have worked with visual art education since 1995, and as a teacher in elementary school for 15 years. I’m a senior lecturer at Malmö University, teaching and researching visual arts education. I attended my first InSEA congress in 2011 and was amazed by the international diversity, the generous program and most of all, the connection with other visual art educators. Since then, I have participated regularly at InSEA congresses. I have been a member of InSEA Sweden since 2011, a member of the board for seven years, and chair of InSEA Sweden for the last four years. I have prioritised participation and inclusion by starting activities with members, cooperating, collaborating, and creating a platform for supporting member initiatives. Together with members in Sweden, we published IMAG #9, TRACES: Visual Arts Education in Sweden, in 2020. Also, we have contributed to the ERC Bulletin, and have organised many national projects. My research interests have mostly been about the learner’s perspective in visual art and media education. My current research interests concern children´s images of the coronavirus pandemic. The images were created during covid 19 and are now archived at the Sweden Children’s Picture Archive. In the research process, I investigate the research questions with more conventional research methods as well as art-based educational methods. For me, InSEA is about inspiration, creativity, and connecting. I would be honoured to work for the ERC, now that I both have some experience and the time to engage internationally.
