Philippines Host Global Launch of Peace Movement: “Not by Force but by Art”

MANILA, Thursday, May 31, 2018— the Philippines had the unique honor of hosting the inaugural international interfaith, intercultural forum and festival, “Art Speaks for Peace”, under the patronage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This launch of the universal peace movement “Not by Force but by Art,” occurred in conjunction with UNESCO International Arts Education Week, as well as the 70th Anniversary of the International Theatre Institute, and was praised by UNESCO Director General Azoulay for “showcasing the dynamic possibilities of art mediation and cultural understanding.” World Councillor Robert Hayden represented InSEA in the event.  The result of the forum is the Manila Declaration  Signed on behalf of 217 Participants from the Philippines, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, UAE, Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea, Vietnam, China, Singapore, Fiji, Sudan, Ecuador, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, INSEA and ITI.
